Food Allergy Legislation
By Katherine Spalla -- 02/18/10
Massachusetts legislators are alarmed by recent rises in food allergies.
So the public health council is working on a bill that will enforce strict laws on restaurants. Officials say about half the patients sent to hospitals for allergic reactions come from restaurants. The bill will include more specific requirements than in the past. Last year, Governor Deval Patrick outlined guidelines in the food allergy awareness act. Officials expect this bill to be groundbreaking.
