It appears the Red Sox have found their new manager by saying, if you can’t beat them add them to your team.  That seems to be the Red Sox approach as multiple reports indicate the Sox are set to hire Houston Astros bench coach Alex Cora as their new manager.  Red Sox President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombroski is denying the story, saying no decision on a new manager has been made yet.

The Sox started their search for a new manager right after they were eliminated from the ALDS, when the fired John Farrell. The Astros are currently on the run to reach the World Series although they are trailing behind the New York Yankees in the ALCS 3-2.

Cora is a former Red Sox player who has also done some work on commentary with ESPN and ESPN Deportes, but after playing in the league for 14 years, he wants to make his name as a manager.
