Sondra Celli may be most known for her role on the television show My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, but before all the costumes and tulle Celli’s specialty was menswear.

After spending 22 years in New York City, Sondra Celli made her way back to Massachusetts with her new baby and blooming career in tow. Sondra Celli Designs, now located in Waltham, creates Quinceanera dresses, elaborate Gypsy wedding gowns and even the costumes for the New England Patriots Cheerleaders. Sometimes one dress takes all night.
“We don’t go to bed and we have twelve or fourteen people doing it. So what we do is we take the skirt and we divide it into sections and so four people will sew all of the sections and then somebody will be connecting them. Because you can’t have one woman sewing that skirt or it’ll never
get done.”
Sondra now has several employees and even interns who get hands on experience in the fashion industry. Her own daughter has been living in New York City for the past sixteen years as a buyer for Saks Fifth Avenue, some would say she’s following in her mother’s footsteps.
