Mass. Public Schools Grant Lower Tuition Rates to Hurricane Victims

The Massachusetts Board of Higher Education voted to grant in-state tuition rates to students from Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands who were devastated by Hurricane Maria. The tropical storm forced many students and their families to relocate to Massachusetts.
State Commissioner of Higher Education, Carlos Santiago, a Puerto Rican native, says that a “modest” number of students are expected to take the offer, which is available through spring 2018.
To qualify, students must provide documentation of their displacement and meet admission requirements.
