It was a busy weekend in Washington, D.C. for Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker at the National Governors Association annual winter meeting. With all 50 governors in attendance, the three day weekend is full of meetings and receptions aiming to discuss solutions for state and federal government issues.
As chairman of the Health and Human Services Committee, Governor Baker met with experts to speak about the opioid crisis. He led a plenary session on the topic and met with U.S. Secretary of HHS Alex Azar and Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Seema Verma to discuss it further. He also met with Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to discuss offshore drilling.
The weekend ended with a White House reception hosted by President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. It was no doubt a pleasant respite for Governor Baker and his wife.
