Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren on Sunday spoke out forcefully against a banking bill under consideration by Congress. The proposed bill would water down the Dodd-Frank law of 2010, easing regulations on banks.

The bill is causing a split between Democrats in the Senate. Although many moderate Democrats support the proposed changes, many progressive Democrats fear it will cause another financial crisis like the one that wracked the country in 2008.

Senator Warren said of the bill, “It puts us at greater risk that there will be another taxpayer bailout, that there will be another crash and another taxpayer bailout.”

Despite Warren’s concern, there is an overwhelming amount of support for the bill from all Republicans and some Democrats.

The Massachusetts Senator told CNN’s Jim Acosta, “Frankly, I just don’t see how any senator can vote to weaken the regulations on Wall Street banks.”
