SoCal is going green for clean coal. BP and General Electric will collaborate on a coal-fueled energy plant in Southern California. The coal will be used to power a turbine while its byproduct carbon dioxide will help to recover oil at a nearby site. It is anticipated that 90% of the plant’s carbon dioxide emissions will be captured. The two companies have plans to open 4 similar plants in the near future.
