Ice may soon be disappearing from the Arctic. That is because scientists say climate change is making the sea ice melt faster than they thought it would happen. This information comes from the biggest study done of Canada’s north region. The study’s lead investigator believes the melting could happen between 2013 and 2030. As a result, the region’s animals will be left without food and suitable areas to reproduce. But this is not exactly a loss for the Canadian gas and oil industries. Receding ice levels could mean greater opportunities for drilling and ship accessibility.
