Vancouver is going for the green. Olympic officials hope to set new environmental standards at the 2010 Games. Officials want to avoid using landfills so they are promoting recycling.
Canadian Senator Larry Campbell says the environment is a top priority. “The Olympic Village is built to gold league standards and the Olympic Village is the largest construction project in North America. So it involves everything from use of water to green roofs…it just goes on and on.”
For Olympic organizers, green may be better than gold.
