The U.S. sled hockey team is guaranteed a medal at these Paralympic Games. The only question now is gold or silver. Team U.S.A. defeated Norway 3 to 0. The game was scoreless until the second period when Greg Shaw scored to put Team U.S.A. up for good.
Taylor Chace went top shelf with 4:25 left in the second period to put Team U.S.A. up by two. Joe Howard added some insurance with just over three minutes to go in the third period.
On March 20th the U.S. will battle for gold against Japan which defeated host country Canada by a score of 3 to 1. In the preliminary round Team U.S.A defeated Japan 6 to 0 and has not allowed a single goal at these Paralympics.
Sled hockey is also known as sledge hockey. It is hockey played while seated on a sled using two shorter hockey sticks both to propel the player down the ice and handle the puck. Team U.S.A won Paralympic gold in the sport at the Salt Lake City Games in 2002 and bronze at the Torino Games in 2006.
