Todd Greenwald is the producer and creator of “Wizards of Waverly Place” on the Disney Channel. The show is currently in its fourth season. It started when Greenwald ran with Disney’s idea of a show about a family and wizards.
Last year Greenwald won an Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Program and this year the show is once again nominated for the same category. Also, this year the television movie “Wizards of Waverly Place” has already snagged a Creative Arts Emmy which was announced on August 21st.
Before “Wizards of Waverly Place,” Greenwald worked on the first season of “Hannah Montana.” He had also done a pilot for NBC. Disney hired him after seeing that pilot. This is how he transitioned to being the creator and producer of “Wizards of Waverly Place.”
The show is watched by all different age groups. Greenwald believes that is because of the humor the actors and actresses portray. “We write a little smarter and make it wittier,” says Greenwald, which makes it appealing to adult audiences as well.
Greenwald says the cast and crew have a great chemistry. He has watched them grow from teens to young adults. He describes the show as having a family like atmosphere.
Greenwald, the cast and crew of “Wizards of Waverly Place” are continuing to work on the fourth season. They are also getting ready to film a second “Wizards” movie.
