And the winner is… Animal Kingdom. The Kentucky-bred horse has won the 137th Kentucky Derby in his first race on dirt. His odds were 21-1. His jockey is John Velazquez while H. Graham Motion is his trainer. Animal Kingdom pulled ahead in the final strides to win the one-and-a-half mile race. He finished ahead of Nehro, Mucho Macho Man and Shackleford, respectively. Animal Kingdom has previously won on turf and synthetic.
