A Look Behind the Lens

Levie Issacks can tell a story without using words. That’s because he lets images do the talking. Issacks is the director of photography for a brand new ABC show, “Man Up.” The show focuses on three men trying to find their inner tough guys. Issacks enjoys having creative control over the show’s appearance.
“In order to really set the look of the show which is really my responsibility now, I added my flavor into how I thought the photography should be. And so far it’s been pretty well received,” said Isaacks.
Issacks has worked as a cinematographer on several films and television shows including “Malcolm in the Middle” and “Dawson’s Creek.” He has been a member of the American Society of Cinematographers since 2004. When Isaacks is on set his first job is to create the complete shot. He then lights the scene and is able to look at several monitors to insure he is getting exactly what he wants. The high definition monitors allow Issacks to set up the perfect show.
“I like to watch it without the sound just because I want to know that the images we’re creating help tell the story,” said Isaacks.
Though Isaacks has been in the television industry for over twenty years he said he continues to learn something new on each project he works on.
His current project is set to premiere October 18 on ABC.
