Theo Epstein Heads to Chicago

Another manager is leaving Boston. It is reported that Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein is going to the Cubs. He has reportedly signed a five-year, almost $20 million deal with the Chicago.
The news comes only two weeks after Red Sox manager Terry Francona announced that he would not be returning to the organization. Epstein was the Red Sox general manager for nine seasons and has one year left on his current contract with Boston.
The deal, however, is not yet finalized and is pending an announcement expected to be made within 24-48 hours. The two teams are still discussing the compensation Boston will receive for letting Epstein out of his contract. Sources say compensation will come in the form of cash or minor league prospects, but no major league players would be moved around. Epstein’s title in Chicago has not yet been decided but it is likely that he will be given a higher title than he held in Boston.
Epstein’s top assistant Ben Cherington is expected to replace him.
