Cubs Pick Sveum As Manager

The Chicago Cubs have hired Dale Sveum as their new manager. He has reportedly received a three-year deal with an fourth year option. He will turn 48 at the end of this month.
Three years ago Sveum was the interim manager for the Milwaukee Brewers. They went 7-5 at the end of the season to clinch the NL Wild Card spot. The Brewers would pass on Sveum twice for the full time managerial position.
The Cubs interviewed many candidates including Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin, Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux, and more before making the decision. Sveum has held positions as third base coach, bench coach and hitting coach. He will be the 52nd manager in Cubs history.
