Bobby Valentine is making big changes. Some of those include no drinking.
Boston Red Sox players will no longer be able to crack open a cold one during a game. Today their new manager told the team that beer won’t be allowed in the clubhouse nor on the last leg of a road trip.
Last season the Red Sox were criticized because some starting pitchers drank beer on days they weren’t pitching. This struck a chord with Valentine who has banned alcohol consumption in all of his previous managerial stops.
“We’re not here to drink,” he told reporters at the Red Sox Spring Training facility in Fort Myers, Florida. “We’re here to play baseball. It ain’t a bar.”
Earlier this week the new Boston Red Sox manager made a strong first impression with his players by having organized practices that focused on fundamentals.
