Mitt Romney cruised to victory in Massachusetts.
He easily defeated opponents Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul in the commonwealth’s Super Tuesday primary election.
Romney was heavily favored to win Massachusetts. It is his home state where he also served as governor for four years between 2003 and 2007.
He will likely get most of the state’s 41 GOP delegates.
The former governor returned home to cast his vote in Belmont, Massachusetts where he and his wife Ann raised their family and own property.
Romney told supporters in Boston that he was hopeful he would gain momentum by winning additional states in the western part of the nation. He confidently told the crowd
“We’re going to get more before this night is over.”
The victory in Massachusetts marked Romney’s third of the night. He had already been declared winner in Vermont and Virginia.
