New Team, New Season For McGehee

Casey McGeheeBy Christine Roy — 03/08/12
Casey McGehee is looking for a fresh start in Pittsburgh. This comes after the third baseman was traded from the Milwaukee Brewers during the offseason.
Last year, McGehee admittedly had a tough time. In April he was batting .280, but by the time September rolled around, his average fell to .223. He’s hoping in 2012 he can get his game back on track.
“I expect myself to get back to playing baseball the way I’m capable of. Last year was a struggle for me but the nice thing about it is we get to start fresh and do it all over again.”
The Pirates are in the same division as the Brewers so this isn’t the first time McGehee has seen his new teammates. The trick for Spring Training is, finding out where he fits in. He says he wants to do whatever he can to help bring the team success.
“I’m just trying to do my part. Trying to drive in as many runs as I can and let in as few as I can. So we’ll see how it goes and only time will tell how everything shakes out.”
McGehee is already making changes after losing 25 pounds this offseason. He’s trying not to over think his game and is taking each day as it comes.
“Just control what I can control and when I have opportunities, try to make the most of them.”
