Yesterday, members of the women’s activist group, CODEPINK, interrupted a speech given by former Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice in Tampa.
Rice was speaking at the ONE/US Global Leadership coalition event when two CODEPINK members spoke out in the middle of it.
CODEPINK member, retired Colonel Ann Write served 29 years in the US Military.
She interrupted Rice when she was discussing the compassionate policies that the Bush administration followed during his time in office, particularly Iraq. She said compassion was the opposite of what the former president stood for.
“You cannot be compassionate and kill people in the war of choice, the war on Iraq.”
Shortly after the outburst, CODEPINK co-director, Rae Abileah, made her voice heard after Rice tried to justify the terror attacks on September 11 for invading Afghanistan.
Abileah said the Bush administration lied to the American people and entered into a useless war.
“The blood of Iraqi children is on your hands. Thousands of young soldiers my age have lost their lives unnecessarily in a war based on Condoleezza Rice and the Bush administration’s lies.”
This is one of the many events that CODEPINK has attended in protest of the Republican National Convention this week.
