Romney’s in… and so is his plan to boost the economy.
Tonight Mitt Romney officially accepted the Republican Party’s nomination for president. After months of vying for the support from a divided party, Romney is heading into the campaign’s final 67 days backed by a more united and energized base.
The former Massachusetts governor has reiterated what his focus would be if he is elected: jobs, jobs and more jobs. He says President Barack Obama can be counted among the few leaders who have taken a step backwards during a first term.
“Every president since the Great Depression who came before the American people asking for a second term could look back at the last four years and say with satisfaction: ‘you are better off today than you were four years ago… except Jimmy Carter and except this president,” he said.
The newly nominated candidate then went on to outline his 5-step plan to create 12 million new jobs. Romney sees the areas needing the most improvements are domestic energy, education, international trade, entrepreneurial investments and reduced taxes on small business.
Romney pledged to spend his first days in office differently than the current president did.
“I will begin my presidency with a jobs tour. President Obama began with an apology tour,” he said.
Romney predicted his plan will reach its goal in 8 years.
