Stars Show Support at the Creative Arts Emmys

TV’s royalty hit the red carpet tonight at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Despite triple digit temperatures, the stars and the masterminds behind-the-scenes helped kick off the fall season.
The awards honoring television’s technical side were held at the Nokia Theater L.A. LIVE. Costume design, cinematography, and casting were some of the categories recognized. The remaining Emmys will be handed out live Sunday night, but those who take home the trophy at Creative Arts Emmys often foreshadow next week’s winners.
The carpet was a mixed bag of nominees, child stars, and celebrity presenters. Funny ladies Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, and Kathy Griffin were serious about looking glamorous. Griffin had taken the time to pose for a picture with adoring fans. But then she shouted as she ran for the closing door that she would “post it on her twitter.”
Presenters Lisa Kudrow, Christina Hendricks, and Neil Patrick Harris showed their support for those on the other side of the camera. Next week Hendricks is up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama series for her role on Mad Men. The casts of Outstanding Children’s Program nominees Victorious and Degrassi took time to mingle with each other and reporters. Nominees Rob Riggle and Daniel Kingsley had fun showing off their winning character voices. Other celebrity appearances included LL Cool J, Emily Deschanel, Johnny Galecki, Malin Akerman, and Michael J. Fox.
Although of the nominees and winners have less recognizable names, The Creative Arts Emmy Awards was not a night to be overlooked. The very pregnant Leigh-Allyn Baker of the nominated children’s series Good Luck Charlie put it perfectly, “I have the ultimate excuse to miss this event and chose not to because I am really excited about it.”
