MIT Professor Named To Lead U.S. Energy Dept

Ernest Moniz has been nominated to run the U.S. Department of Energy.

He is a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  It is now up to the Senate to confirm President Obama’s cabinet choice.

Moniz is a respected physicist with many years of experience.

He first served under the Clinton Administration as Associate Director in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and later as a Undersecretary for the Department of Energy.

He has also been on the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, all while teaching classes at MIT.

Moniz also directs the school’s Energy Initiative and Laboratory for Energy and the Environment.
