“We are one Boston. We are one community,” Mayor Thomas Menino told the world today.
He and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick have set up a fund to help victims of the Boston terror attack.
It is called The One Fund Boston at onefundboston.org. It will raise money for those whose lives were most impacted by the terror attack.
“At moments like this, we are one state, one city, and one people,” Governor Patrick added at the press conference held in a Boston hotel this afternoon.
Boston’s Mayor Menino said immediately after the explosions business leaders called him to ask how they could help.
“They want to do everything they can to help these people physically and psychologically in the future,” the Mayor said.
The Boston based business John Hancock has pledged $1 million in support of The One Fund. Other philanthropists who have pledged their support include Boston Red Sox CEO Larry Lucchino and President and CEO of Bank of America Brian Moynihan.
