Patriots Sign Austin Collie
By: CJ Harvey – 10/3/13
The New England Patriots and wide receiver Austin Collie reached an agreement on a deal earlier today. New England needed some help at the receiver position as it placed four receivers on the injured list this week.
Collie had been seeking a NFL job for months as he tried to convince teams his concussion-filled past is behind him. Collie spent some time in the San Francisco 49ers training camp this offseason, but did not make the final cut.
The last game Collie played in the NFL was for Indianapolis in 2012. He played in just one game and had one reception for 6 yards. When healthy, Collie has proven he can be a productive receiver. In 2011, Collie caught 54 passes for 514 yards and one touchdown.
Collie been productive when well healthy, but he’s struggled to stay on the field. He has missed 22 games over the last three seasons because of multiple concussions and a ruptured patellar tendon.
Collie will wear number 10 with New England.
