This year’s Red Sox victory parade is sweeter than ever.

A World Series hometown win on the heels of last spring’s Boston marathon attacks brought New England’s faithful out in numbers. As their bearded champions make their way through Boston, no one was disappointed.

The Sox rode Boston’s famous duck boats starting at Fenway and ending with a ride on the Charles River. Thousands of fans lined both city streets and the river’s banks to cheer on the team and celebrate the final Game 6-1 win over the Saint Louis Cardinals.

Players acknowledged the marathon bombing tragedy during the parade when Johnny Gomes placed the trophy and a “Boston Strong” jersey on the marathon finish line.

Boston police reported no major disturbances or problems during the parade.
