The ups and downs of a NBA season can be crazy. Brad Stevens is learning that quickly in his first season as a NBA head coach.

The Boston Celtics opened up the season with four consecutive losses. Then the team rattled off four straight wins. Now the Celtics have lost three straight games, dropping its record to 4-7 on the season.

The biggest reason for the shaky start is the team’s inefficient offense. Through the first three weeks of the season, Boston ranks 24th in the league in points per game and 28th in the league in assists per game.

Jeff Green is the team’s leading scorer averaging 15.5 points per game. Right now there are 51 other NBA players averaging more than 15.5 points per game. Avery Bradley and Jared Sullinger are Boston’s second and third leading scorers.

However, the Celtics have played well on the defensive end of the court. Boston has given up only 97.7 points per game which ranks 8th in the league.

Help is on the way though since star point guard Rajon Rondo could return to the court in the near future. Rondo is currently out recovering from a torn ACL. But all signs point to him making a return at some point this season. Rondo is the catalyst for the Celtics’ offense, and Brad Stevens can’t wait to get his best player back on the court.
