Following the September 11, 2001 Twin Tower attack in New York City, law student Jack Ryan joins the United States Marines and serves in Afghanistan, where he is seriously wounded during a helicopter attack. While recovering from his injuries at Walter Reed hospital, Ryan meets a young doctor (Keira Knightley) and impresses a naval officer (Kevin Costner), who ends up recruiting him for the CIA. Ryan’s expertise in analyses of patterns and threats leads him to working as a mole on Wall Street searching for terrorists’ financial footprints. Sneaky activity within Russian bank accounts attracts his attention and sends Ryan to Moscow for a wild journey of deceit, trickery and combat.
