Boston’s latest campaign to curb gun violence has is turning to transit.  The MBTA will fund 600 ads on buses and trains aimed at women who illegally buy and carry guns for male partners. The transit agency will partner with Operation LIPSTICK, short for Ladies Involved in Putting a Stop to Inner-City Killings, in displaying the ads. They will show a woman in handcuffs with the title, “His crime, your time–holding his gun can land you in jail.” Boston Police Commissioner William Evans called the spike in the number of women carrying guns illegally alarming.

The ads go will go up on Wednesday.
