Copley Catwalk for Boston Fashion Week
By Rachael Peart
Student designers shared the runway with high-end designers in the Copley Catwalk Series during Boston Fashion Week. School of Fashion Design – Boston, Eileen Fisher and Cache each displayed their unique designs at the event. Copley Place was taken over by models, designers and spectatorsMonday night. The line to get into the free event wrapped around Center Court before the event with fashion lovers hoping to get a seat for part one of the series. Once inside, guests were given gift bags and a chance to win raffle prizes prior to the event.
By the time the event started, there was only standing room left – outside of the roped off area. Some onlookers found that the best view was on the upper decks of Copley Place looking down at the event. Cache was the first set of designs down the catwalk, followed by Eileen Fisher and School of Fashion Design – Boston closed out the show. Between each display, attendees sampled food and drinks, mingled and took pictures in front of a Copley Place backdrop.
Each designer had their own particular flare that reflected in their outfits. There were pants suits, dresses, gowns and even some hints of casual wear. One of the final pieces of the night was a white, floor-length dress. The piece included a train similar to that of a wedding gown. The end of each designer’s set was marked by the models taking one last trip down the catwalk, displaying all of the different outfits from the show. The second part of the Copley Catwalk Series occurred on Wednesday October 8. It featured Massachusetts School of Art and L.K. Bennett.
