by Ashley Allen

The Bruins on Monday ended a losing streak, but not their own. The Bruins fell to 1-3-0 on the season losing to the Colorado Avalanche with just one second to go in the regulation of a tie game. The Avalanche, who had not scored a single point this season, put three goals in the books, beating the Bruins 2-1.

Both teams started back-up goaltenders, Reto Berra and Niklas Svedberg, who each blocked 10 shots in the first period leaving the score 0-0 heading into the second.Colorado was first on the board, scoring early in the second, and was answered by the Bs shortly after when Loui Erickson knocked in his first goal of the season during a power play.

Colorado struck again for a 2-1 lead in the third, but the goal was taken away after a high sticking call.

With less than a second left the Bruins’ luck ran out when Daniel Briere scored the game winning goal to give the Avalanche their first win of the season and the Bruins their third loss in 4 games.
