The “Spotlight” Stayed on Journalism

By Robert Way 10/28/2015
The focus stayed on journalism at the red carpet premiere of “Spotlight” on Wednesday.

The movie’s premiere at Coolidge Corner Theatre brought together the actors of the film including Mark Ruffalo and Brian d’Arcy James, joined by the original Boston Globe Spotlight team on whom the movie is based on.

The film walks through The Boston Globe’s investigation of the Catholic Church’s sex abuse scandal and how the journalists put together the Pulitzer Prize winning story.

One of the original journalists of the investigative team, Sacha Pfeiffer, added her thoughts on what she hopes audiences take away from this movie. “I hope they buy a subscription to their newspaper… because when you support a newspaper you let reporters do work like this.”

“This sex abuse scandal never came to any kind of conclusion,” Mark Ruffalo noted about the significance of this movie. “I don’t think justice was ever truly served.”

The movie is set to be released in select theaters on November 6th.
