One Direction Surprises Fans with Release of Music Video for ‘History’

One Direction made fans’ Tuesdays a little brighter with a surprise music video release for its song “History.”

The track, from the band’s fifth album, Made in The A.M., is about a couple breaking up, who are clearly meant to be together.

“You and me got a whole lot of history. We could be the greatest team that the world has ever seen,” they sing. “You and me got a whole lot of history, so don’t let it go. We can make some more. We can live forever.”

The video doesn’t let fans down as it tells the story of the epitome of heartbreak… One Direction’s!

The video follows the group’s nonstop journey over the past five years. Black and white footage shows members’ auditions on “Britain’s X Factor,” thousands of screaming fans at their concerts and behind-the-scenes of 1D band members joking around with one another.

Intertwined is present day One Direction, comprised of Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson singing along. The video ends with One Direction heading in different directions. *Que the endless fan tears.*

The group says this video acts as closure for the band, and especially for its fans.

One Direction announced its indefinite hiatus last August, but assures fans it’s not the end of One Direction. Instead, it’s a time to focus on individual careers and relax.
