Lionel Richie may not be winning a Grammy this year, but we is winning an even better honor.
The 66-year-old singer was named by the Recording Academy announced as the MusiCares Person of the Year. To honor Richie’s more than 50 years in the music industry, there will be a special performance dedicated to him at this year’s Grammy Awards.
The tribute performance will include Demi Lovato, John Legend, Meghan Trainor and Luke Bryan. The genre-blending artists will sing some of Richie’s classic songs. Lionel Richie himself will even join them on stage for one song.
Richie has won four Grammys over his career, including Song of The Year in 1985 for “We Are The World” which he co-wrote with the late Michael Jackson.
The 58th Grammy Awards will air on Monday, February 15th.
