Red Sox Get the Strangest Division Win in History
By Angelina Salcedo 9/28/2016
“I want to celebrate, but I feel so bad.”
That is what star player David Ortiz said tonight when the Red Sox clinched the A.L. Division.
The Red Sox clinched because the Baltimore Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-2. In the bottom of the 9th inning, the Red Sox were on the way to beating the Yankees in New York when closer Craig Kimbrel could not get a strikeout.
The Red Sox finally brought in Joe Kelly who gave up a grand slam homer to Mark Teixeira. That gave the Yankees a walk off 4-3 win.
The atmosphere turned really strange when the Yankees celebrated on the field and the Red Sox quietly walked into the dugout and club house looking glum.
Tomorrow night, they finish their series at Yankee Stadium.
