President-elect Donald Trump says he will step away from running his global business empire to avoid conflicts of interest and focus on being the 45th President of the United States.

Trump said that he would be holding a press conference to discuss his plans to leave the Trump Organization on Twitter Wednesday.

“I will be holding a major news conference in New York City with my children on Dec. 15 to discuss the fact that I will be leaving my great business in total in order to fully focus on running the country in order to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” Trump tweeted.

Previously Trump argued that he did not feel he should have to leave the Trump Organization if he won the presidency.

In another tweet Trump stated, “While I am not mandated to do this under the law, I feel it is visually important, as president, to in no way have a conflict of interest with my various businesses.”

Trump has a position in over 500 companies. 150 of these companies have done business in foreign countries according to CNN analysis.

Trump has said that legal documents are being drawn up that will completely remove him from business operations.

Trump lawyer Michael Cohen stated that Trump’s adult children, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka and Eric, will run the company during the time Trump’s presidency.

“He’s very comfortable with them at the helm and the people that will surround them,” he said.
