President Trump visits Puerto Rico

President Trump visited Puerto Rico today where he told Puerto Ricans: “Everyone around this table, and everyone watching, can be very proud of what’s taking place in Puerto Rico.” After visiting hurricane damage in Texas and Florida, Trump said he is just now making it to the island country “because of the first responders, and we don’t want to disrupt the relief efforts.”
The President claimed that the state of Puerto Rico was not “a real catastrophe like Katrina,” with only 34 deaths compared to Katrina’s 1,800. The death toll number is predicted to increase due to current living conditions and poor communication throughout the country.
Mr. Trump toured the damage done to citizens’ homes, where he assured them ‘we’re going to help you out.” Rescue efforts continue as two navy ships are due to arrive Tuesday with supplies. All of Puerto Rico’s hospitals and airports have opened, and about 37 percent of people have cellphone service, but the conditions remain dire.
