NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell thinks players should stand for the National Anthem. But there will not be any punishment for those who don’t.
The league held a meeting with a group of players, team owners and NFL executives on Tuesday to discuss the anthem and the social issues players are trying to high-light.
Goodell stated “I think our clubs all see this the same way, we want our players to players to stand, we’re going to encourage them to stand and we’re going to continue to work on these issues in the community.” The players say kneeling is not a protest against the country, the military or the anthem itself, but rather to put focus on inequality and police brutality.
