For the first time in history, a women’s rugby team has been crowned as the team of the year.  The women of the New Zealand National Rugby Team, officially nicknamed the Black Ferns, capped off their year with an incredible victory World Cup over England and more hardware than their male counterparts.  Well known for their iconic Haka dance, the New Zealand men’s rugby team, the All Blacks, had a great season but their season was not as explosive as the Ferns, notching two losses and two draws.  The Black Ferns finished their season with a 3-1 record in the International Women’s Rugby Series and a 4-1 record in the Women’s Rugby World Cup with victories over a number of notable teams such as Wales and the United States.
