Gronk: I’m Playing
Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski gave himself the all-clear for Super Bowl Sunday. Gronkowski’s status was questionable, though most expected he would play against the Eagles in Super Bowl LII. At an event at the Mall of America Tuesday night, Gronk said he’s going to play, but is still waiting to get the official OK from doctors.
“Hopefully by tomorrow,” he said. “We’ll see how it goes. I’m not the guy to say I’m out of the protocol. That’s the doctor’s call.” Gronkowski needs to be cleared out of concussion protocol, which will pave the path for him to play.
Gronk gave a reluctant smile and clearly said “yes” when flat-out asked if he was going to play. His comments came in an interview with reporters at a promotional event for the newest installment of the “Madden” video game series,.
In the only bad news to come out of the event for Patriots fans, Gronkowski lost to former teammate and current Eagle LeGarrette Blount in the new Madden game, 33-13.
