President Trump has asked a federal judge to order a private arbitration in the case brought by Stormy Daniels – a porn actress who claimed to have had an affair with Trump.

Daniels’ attorney, Michael Avenatti, opposes this request, tweeting,“This is a democracy, and this matter should be decided in an open court of law owned by the people.”

The case involves a nondisclosure agreement signed by Daniels and Mr. Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen. Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, wants to invalidate the nondisclosure agreement she signed, keeping details about relations with the president a secret. She broke the nondisclosure when she revealed she’d had sex with Mr. Trump in 2006 and the affair continued for about a year.

The White House denies these allegations.
