Thursday was a good night for the Los Angeles Rams, with quarterback Jared Goff throwing for 5 TDs to bring his team to a 38-31 victory. They remain undefeated at week three. However, their win did not come easy. Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins passed for 3 touchdowns over 422 yards, but a strip-sack play by LA defensive lineman John Franklin-Meyers led to Minnesota’s ultimate demise.
Cooper Kupp caught two of four touchdown throws from Goff in the first half alone. This is their third home win in 12 days. “It was just great command by him,” coach Sean McVay said. “I think he’s having fun. No moment is too big for him, and it gives you confidence when you see him playing like this.” Running back Todd Gurley rushed for 83 yards and received 73.
Despite stellar offensive stats, the LA defense was poor, allowing 28 points before halftime. “We did not play well defensively,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. “Offensively we moved the ball well, but we had too many missed tackles, and too many people were left wide open.” The Vikings will face the Eagles Sunday, October 7th. The undefeated Rams will visit Seattle to play the Seahawks the same day.
