With a 21 point lead in the fourth quarter, the Longhorns looked like they were wrapping things up until Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray led his team down the field three straight times to knot it up at 45 with a little over a minute remaining. As the clock hit zero, however, it was Texas kicker Cameron Dicker, now known better as “Dicker the Kicker”, who was the hero knocking in a 40-yard field goal for the 48-45 win. The victory  moved Texas up ten spots to #9 while the Sooners drop four spots to #11.

Other notable games included the #6 Notre Dame Fighting Irish and new starting quarterback Ian Book taking down the #24 Virginia Tech Hokies without much of a sweat in a 22 point blowout. Notre Dame is now bumped up to #5 in the rankings. Previously #13 ranked Kentucky took a five spot hit this weekend following their overtime loss to Texas A&M. The Auburn Tigers saw their hopes for a playoff run take a slide down the tubes after they dropped 13 spots to #21 after its loss to Mississippi State.
Even the LSU Tigers took a tumble on Saturday after falling to the Florida Gators in a game that went down to the wire until LSU quarterback Joe Burrows threw his first two interceptions of the year that would seal the victory for the Gators. The Tigers fell from #5 to #13 while the Gators bumped up 8 spots to #14.
Other teams that continued to climb this week include West Virginia (#6), Washington (#7), Penn State (#8), University of Central Florida (#10), and NC State  (#20) following a 5 point victory over an AJ Dillon-less Boston College squad.
