Boston College honored a hero in style on Friday Night with a 27-14 over Miami.
Boston College hosted their annual Red Bandana Game honoring Welles Crowther who sacrificed his life to save others on September 11th. On the field, the Eagles came out strong scoring on their first three possessions. BC head coach Steve Addazio said the Eagles were going to come out fast and creative and it showed with two trick plays on the games first two drives. A couple of double reverses including one from receiver Jeff Smith to QB Anthony Brown got the Eagles off and running.
The Eagles accumulated 433 yards on offense, including 209 in the first quarter. AJ Dillon, who returned this week after missing the previous two games with an ankle injury, led the way rushing for 149 yards and a touchdown. Anthony Brown was decent on the day with 152 yards through the air and 41 on the ground. On defense, the Eagles intercepted Malik Rosier twice on consecutive drives in the third quarter. Hamp Cheevers had the first and Taj-Amir Torres had the second. It was Cheevers fifth interception of the year, tying him for most in the FBS.
Boston College improves to 6-2 making them bowl eligible for the third consecutive season. The Eagles go on the road next weekend to take on Virginia Tech. The Hokies sit at 4-3 and are coming off an embarrassing 49-28 defeat to Georgia Tech Thursday night. Two weeks from now, BC returns home for their biggest game of the year when number two Clemson comes to town. However, the Eagles can’t take Virginia Tech for granted in one weeks time.
