Recently fired Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson is back in the National Football League.
Jackson was hired by the Cincinnati Bengals on Tuesday as the Special Assistant to head coach Marvin Lewis. This marks Jackson’s third stint with the Bengals. Before being hired as head coach for the Browns, Jackson was the offensive coordinator for the Bengals during the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
Jackson was fired by the Brown organization due to a failure to win football games. His record of 3-36-1 spanned parts of three seasons and included an 0-16 mark in 2017.
The 5-4 Bengals were throttled, 51-14, by the New Orleans Saints this past Sunday, which was the team’s third loss in the past four games. The following day, defensive coordinator Teryl Austin was fired, which in part is due to the defense giving up the most yards in the NFL.
The Bengals travel to Baltimore this Sunday to play the Ravens. The following week, the Bengals host the Browns in a meeting of Jackson’s past and present employers.
