The hot stove season was surprisingly ice cold. Many of the leagues’ All-Stars remained unsigned at the start of Spring Training, one

being Craig Kimbrel, former Boston Red Sox closer.

The defending champions also lost reliever Joe Kelly in their bullpen and failed to secure any significant signings, leaving some fans worried about their season. Mike Carreiro, a diehard fan, said the Sox did not do themselves any favors. “I am a little concerned.I think the Yankees helped themselves in the offseason. We stood back and lost a couple of guys. We lost Kimbrel. We’re losing [Joe] Kelly. Who is going to close, and who is going to set up?”

The Red Sox will begin their season March 28 on the road where they will play the Seattle Mariners.
