President Trump proposed a budget for 2020 that totals a record $4.75 trillion.

Despite the fact that the national debt is more than $22 trillion, the president is asking for another $8.6 billion to erect a barrier on the southern border.

However, Democrats, who control the House, are unlikely to give President Trump the money he wants for a wall.

Many lawmakers say the Trump budget will be dead on arrival when it arrives at the Capitol.

The president is also proposing $2.7 trillion in spending cuts. He wants all non-defense departments to reduce spending by 5 percent. Trump’s proposed cuts in education, health, and environmental protection are likely to face stiff opposition from the Democrats in Congress.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer emphasized on CNN that Trump would not get money for a border wall.

Despite the huge budget deficit, President Trump believes he can balance the budget in 15 years.
