Milwaukee will host the Democratic National Convention from July 13-16.
The Democrats lost Wisconsin in the 2016 presidential election. So, this decision suggests that winning back the upper Midwest may be part of Democrats’ strategy to reclaim the presidency.

Milwaukee competed with Miami Beach and Houston to be chosen for the Democratic National Convention.
The Republicans will be holding their national convention during August in Charlotte.

“The Democratic Party is committed to organizing everywhere and holding the convention in mid-July allows us to continue our work doing exactly that,” Democratic National Committee chairman Tom Perez said.
