The Northeastern Huskies could win the Hockey East title tomorrow night after eliminating Boston University in a 2-1 overtime win.
BU’s Tyler Amonte started the scoring in the second period with his 8th goal of the season. Then Northeastern forward Tyler Madden tied the game in the third.
Northeastern center Zach Solow netted the overtime winner to snuff BU’s chance of defending the title. It was his second overtime goal.
“We have a lot of momentum right now,” Solow said. “That was a huge team win. I’m really proud of the guys and how we came out and really responded after the first. And we’ll take it tomorrow night.”
Northeastern set a record with its 26th win of the year.
“I thought our guys played pretty hard,” said Boston University head coach Albie O’Connell. “It was unfortunate…we had some chances and we didn’t capitalize on it.”
