President Trump Demands Information About Whistleblower’s Identity

The attorney for the anonymous whistleblower who accused President Donald Trump of pressuring the Ukraine to intervene in the 2020 election is concerned over the safety of his client in relation to Trump’s public threats.
Last week, President Trump called for the person who gave the whistleblower information to be publicly identified. Mr. Trump’s statements gave the whistleblower’s legal team serious concerns. The whistleblower’s legal team responded to this by addressing a letter to Joseph Maguire, the acting Director of National Intelligence.
Andrew P. Bakaj, the whistleblower’s lead attorney, addressed in the letter that the comments made by President Trump “have heightened our concerns that our client’s identity will be disclosed publicly and that, as a result, our client will be put in harm’s way.”
After the letter had been sent out, Mr. Trump tweeted multiple times throughout the day on Sunday, expressing anger over the situation. In the tweets, Mr. Trump demanded to meet his accuser face-to-face, making it clear that he wants the whistleblower to be identified.
Congress is discussing the legal protection standings of the whistleblower, no protection agreements have been made.
