Rudy Giuliani Subpoenaed by House Democrats

The House Intelligence Committee has subpoenaed Rudy Giuliani, Donald Trump’s private lawyer, for information regarding the lawyer’s attempts to urge Ukraine to investigate the Biden family.

This news comes after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi officially announced the commencement of an impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump early last week.

The White House has yet to respond, but Giuliani has hinted that he will not comply with the subpoena.

Giuliani made controversial appearances on CNN and Laura Ingraham’s Fox News show, confirming his involvement in asking for Ukraine’s investigation. Giuliani also got into a heated exchange with CNN’s Chris Cuomo, where he made several unsubstantiated claims about Hunter and Joe Biden.

The chairmen of the three committees involved in the subpoena — Rep. Eliot Engel (D-NY) from House Foreign Affairs, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) from House Intelligence, and Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) from House Oversight — are seeking documents and communications dating back to Jan. 20th, 2017, the day President Donald Trump took office.

The chairmen have asked for Giuliani to provide the documents by Oct. 15, with a warning that a failure to comply with the subpoena “shall constitute evidence of obstruction of the House’s impeachment inquiry and may be used as an adverse inference against you and the president.”
